ANTARES HOSTEL, Nice

The hostel is at the heart of Nice, next to the main train station, giving direct rail connections to Monaco, Cannes, Antibes, and other coastal towns. A tram stop is within one minute, making it easy to reach the city centre without a car. The beach is a pleasant 15-minute walk down Avenue Jean Médecin. A large supermarket (Monoprix) and a bakery are directly across the street, and dozens of restaurants, fast-food outlets, and a shopping centre are within a 300-metre radius. The A8 motorway is a 10-minute drive away, and Nice Airport is 8 km from the property. The area is safe and well-connected, though the location may feel a bit far from the old town and port for some visitors.

Private rooms offer a flat-screen TV, a private bathroom with shower and free toiletries, and soundproofed windows. Some private rooms have garden views. Dormitory rooms (4-6 beds) have en-suite or shared bathrooms and metal lockers under the bed - note that these lockers can be noisy and fiddly. All rooms are air-conditioned and heated. Some dormitories, particularly those in the basement, may have no windows and can feel cramped. The decor is dated and some furniture is worn. The bedding and towels are changed daily, but the bathrooms may not always be spotless. The duplex layout means some rooms are quieter than others; rooms facing the street can be noisy, and internal plumbing noise is common. For greater comfort and privacy, a private room is strongly recommended over a dormitory.

There is no restaurant or bar on site. The free breakfast consists of bread, butter, jam, Nutella, cereal, milk, and hot drinks - enough to start the day but not a full meal. Late risers may find the breakfast bar empty. A free happy hour from 18:00 to 19:00 offers complimentary red wine and snacks, which is a nice social touch. A fully equipped communal kitchen (microwave, stove, kettle, large fridges) allows you to prepare your own meals. A supermarket is 50 metres away for groceries, and a bakery is next door for fresh bread. Many restaurants and fast-food outlets are within a 3-minute walk, offering a wide variety of cuisines.

Wi-Fi is free and stable throughout the building. The property offers express check-in/out, free luggage storage before and after your stay, and lockers under the bed (bring your own padlock). A shared lounge/TV area and a terrace garden with tables and chairs provide social spaces. A lift services all floors except possibly some basement rooms.
