Hotel Details

Location

In the heart of the Quartier Latin on Rue Saint-Denis, two blocks from the Berri-UQAM metro and a short walk from Old Montreal.
The property sits at the centre of one of Montreal's liveliest strips, packed with restaurants, bars, shops and cafés. Berri-UQAM metro is about 300 metres away, and the central bus station is almost next door, so arriving by public transport is straightforward. Old Montreal, the Old Port, Sainte-Catherine Street shopping and Mont Royal park are all reachable on foot in 15 to 25 minutes. The area is well suited to exploring the city without a car, while the lively street scene means room choice matters more than usual for a good night's sleep.

Accommodation

A 25-room auberge mixing compact economy rooms and spacious suites; decor is dated in places, but rooms are clean and beds are comfortable.
The old building has no lift, and upper-floor rooms involve several flights of stairs with luggage. The smallest rooms are genuinely tight, with compact bathrooms and limited floor space for suitcases; they suit short, active stays best. Larger suites add sitting areas, desks and roomier bathrooms, with some featuring a private whirlpool or jetted tub and a separate shower. Rooms at the back overlook a parking area and are notably quiet, while front rooms on Rue Saint-Denis carry bar and traffic noise, especially on weekends. Air conditioning is available but can be noisy, and temperature control is not always reliable. Floors are carpeted or parquet, and the building shows its age in places despite generally clean conditions.

Dining

No on-site breakfast or restaurant service is currently offered; the surrounding Rue Saint-Denis area gives easy access to many cafés and restaurants.
Dining is not currently part of the stay: there is no breakfast service, restaurant or bar operating at the property. Plenty of options are within a short walk, with roughly a dozen restaurants, pubs and cafés within 300 metres, including Le Saint Bock, La Recreation, Restaurant Shezan, Brasserie Artisanale L'Amère à Boire, Juliette & Chocolat and Restaurant la Lune Indienne. Rue Saint-Denis is one of Montreal's most food-focused streets, so morning coffee, quick lunches and late-night bites are all close by.

Wellness and Leisure

There is no pool, spa or gym; leisure centres on the vibrant Latin Quarter, with private whirlpool tubs in select suites.
Wellness amenities are limited to in-room whirlpool or jetted bathtubs in some suites, which are useful for relaxing after long city walks. The hotel does not operate a pool, sauna or fitness room. Instead, leisure time naturally revolves around the neighbourhood: the Latin Quarter is full of bars and restaurants, Arcade MTL is about 300 metres away, and Mont Royal park is a pleasant walk for hiking, strolling and winter cross-country skiing. Because the street scene continues late on weekends, a courtyard-side room makes an early night easier.

Facilities and Services

Free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and an attentive front desk; paid public parking is nearby and pets are not allowed.
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, though connection strength varies and is weakest on upper floors. Each room has a flat-screen TV, sitting area, free toiletries and an alarm clock; mini-fridges are not standard. The front desk is efficient and helpful, arranging taxi reservations, providing museum tickets and tourist advice, and keeping arrivals and departures quick. There is no lift or luggage assistance, and stairs connect all floors. Parking is not on site; the nearest paid public lots, including the library garage and a 24-hour lot, are about five to ten minutes away on foot.

Top Strategic Tips

  • 01

Request a room at the back or overlooking the courtyard if you prefer a quiet night; street-facing rooms on Rue Saint-Denis pick up bar and traffic noise until late.

  • 02

Pack light and be prepared for stairs: the building has no lift and no luggage assistance.

  • 03

Use the paid public parking near the library rather than expecting on-site parking; it is about five minutes away on foot.

  • 04

Choose a suite if you need space; the smaller rooms are compact and their bathrooms are very tight.
