BEST WESTERN SAN DIEGO/MIRAMAR HOTEL, San Diego

The hotel is right off the 15 Freeway, about 15 minutes from downtown and 25 minutes from San Diego Airport. It is situated next to Miramar Marine Corps Air Station, home of the famous Miramar Air Show, making it a prime spot for air show attendees. The location is car-dependent, but the freeway access allows quick drives to Mira Mesa, Convoy Street dining, and other San Diego neighborhoods. Nearby dining options include Chun's Szechwan Restaurant, Carl's Jr., IHOP, and several Indian restaurants within 2 km. Gas stations and highway entrances are within walking distance, and there are a couple of breweries nearby for evening outings.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and is served as a grab-and-go bag or a full continental buffet from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM on weekdays and 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM on weekends. The selection typically includes scrambled eggs, sausages, waffles, cereals, and pastries, with daily variety. Though the breakfast area in the lobby can feel small during peak times, the supply is usually adequate. There is no restaurant or room service on site, but a snack bar and minimarket are available, and several restaurants are within walking distance. The hotel staff can recommend nearby spots for groceries and meals.

The hotel's main leisure facility is an outdoor heated swimming pool, open from 10 AM to 6 PM with a fence, sun umbrellas, and pool towels provided. The pool area includes an outdoor fireplace and is generally clean and relaxing, though it can become busy on weekends. The hot tub has been closed and is not currently available. There is no fitness center or spa on the property. The location near Miramar Air Station means the annual air show is a major seasonal event, but otherwise the hotel is best suited for travelers using the pool for relaxation after a day out.

The hotel offers free Wi-Fi throughout, a 24-hour front desk, and express check-in/out. Free on-site parking requires a reservation and includes accessible parking. Laundry facilities are available for an additional charge with app-based payment. The business center is free to use with two computers and fax/photocopying. The property has a minimarket, a shared lounge/TV area, and an outdoor fireplace in the pool area. Accessibility features include wheelchair access, Braille signage, and lower bathroom sinks. Housekeeping is daily but may require a request at the front desk. The safety deposit box is available for a fee. The hotel is entirely non-smoking, with designated smoking areas outside. Key-card access, smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers are in place for security.
