CALMA HOUSE BARCELONA, Barcelona

The property is 400 metres from Barcelona Cathedral, 600 metres from the Picasso Museum and Portal de l'Angel, and 12 km from Barcelona El Prat Airport. The location allows walking to the beach in about 20 minutes, while metro and bus stops are within easy reach for trips further afield, such as to Sagrada Familia. The surrounding area is vibrant but the immediate street can feel dirty and unsafe late at night; the building entrance is old and often in poor condition. Parking is not available, and the narrow streets make car access impractical.

Each room includes a sink, wardrobe, tiled floors, electric fan, and heating in winter. Some rooms have ceiling fans, while others lack air conditioning, making summer stays uncomfortable during hot spells. Certain rooms have no windows, leading to poor ventilation, and some offer a balcony with limited views. The building is old, with thin walls and minimal soundproofing; road-facing rooms and those near common areas can be noisy. Twin/double rooms with shared bathroom consist of one or two beds, and some rooms offer a private bathroom. The property also has rooms with private bathroom. Cots are not available.

The property does not serve breakfast or operate a restaurant. However, a shared kitchenette is provided, offering a fridge, microwave, and kettle. Free coffee and muffins are available in the common area. Numerous dining options are within a 0.5 km walk, including Les Quinze Nits, Viana, Can Culleretes, and Avinyo10, which cover Spanish and Catalan cuisine. For those wanting groceries, nearby shops are also within walking distance.

The property does not offer a spa, swimming pool, or fitness facilities. Leisure options are limited to the shared lounge and the surrounding Gothic Quarter attractions. Guests looking for wellness activities will need to explore external options within the city.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Luggage storage is offered free of charge before check-in or after checkout. Concierge service, fax/photocopying, and a shared lounge/TV area are available. Bike and car hire can be arranged. There is no lift; access to rooms is via stairs, and there is no on-site restaurant, spa, or swimming pool. Reception is not staffed after 16:00-17:00, so late arrivals must coordinate check-in in advance. Security: CCTV outside the property. The street can feel unsafe at night, particularly for solo travellers.
