CENTRAL LODGE HOTEL, Rome

The hotel sits in the heart of Rome, offering easy walking access to major sights: the Colosseum is a 10-15 minute walk, and the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore is nearby. Termini Station is a 10-minute walk, providing rail connections to both Fiumicino and Ciampino airports. The Vittorio Emanuele Metro stop (line A) is a 3-minute walk away, giving direct access to the Vatican and Spanish Steps. The surrounding Esquilino neighbourhood has a supermarket directly across the street, several restaurants and cafés within a short walk, and a tram stop outside the hotel. For safety, the area is well-trafficked and felt secure to those walking from the station, though the immediate block can appear gritty with graffiti and street-level activity.

All rooms are air-conditioned and have been recently refurbished to a modern, minimalist style. Each room includes a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, free toiletries, hairdryer, and a bidet. Beds feature medium-hard mattresses and are available in configurations including single (with a king bed), double/twin, triple, and family rooms with up to three beds. Room sizes are generally spacious, especially the family rooms, with some being larger than expected and featuring high ceilings. However, some rooms have no view or face the road, which can lead to street noise, particularly from a nearby restaurant and early-morning waste collection. Windows are not always fully soundproofed, and some rooms have described a musty smell. No rooms have balconies or kettles. The property has two floors with no elevator, requiring stair access. Simple storage is provided, and a small fridge is available in some rooms.

The hotel does not have a wellness centre, fitness room, swimming pool, or spa. The main leisure amenity is a shared lounge area where free tea, coffee, and water are available, and where guests can relax after touring the city. The property also offers a tour or class about local culture for an additional charge, which can be booked at the tour desk. For active relaxation, the central location provides easy walking access to Rome's historic sites and public parks.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and reported as reliable. Daily housekeeping is included and keeps rooms clean. Luggage storage is free and available before check-in and after check-out until 23:00. The reception desk is open from 07:00 to 23:00, with 24-hour access via a keycode system for late arrivals (online check-in required). A shuttle service to/from both Fiumicino and Ciampino airports is available for a fee (fixed rates by reservation, cost varies by time and group size). Additional services include a tour desk, concierge, private check-in/out, safety deposit box, and a business centre with fax/photocopying and meeting/banquet facilities (for an additional charge). Pets are allowed on request at no extra charge. The property is equipped with facilities for disabled guests, including an emergency cord in the bathroom, lower sink, raised toilet, and grab rails. An iron is available upon request, and a laundry service is available nearby. Key card access and 24-hour security are provided.
