The hostel is steps from St. Giles' Cathedral, The Real Mary King's Close, and the National Museum of Scotland. Edinburgh Airport is 11 km away - take the Airlink 100 bus to Waverley Station (35-40 min), then a short walk up Cockburn Street. The bus station is a 10-minute walk. Most of the city's top sights are within 10-15 minutes on foot. The central position means the area is busy at all hours, with many restaurants, cafés, and souvenir shops directly outside. The Royal Mile is the main tourist artery, so expect lively street activity throughout the day.

Room types include private double rooms with private or shared bathrooms, twin rooms, quadruple rooms with bath and shower, and shared dormitories (mixed or female-only) with 8, 10, or 24 beds. Each pod has a privacy curtain, USB charging, a shelf, hook, and a locker that fits a standard sized suitcase (larger bags can be stored around the pod). The pods are tall enough to sit up in. Some rooms are on the upper floors with lift access, but some are semi-basement with a small window. Noise from corridor doors and other pods can be audible - earplugs are provided. The building's historic nature means sounds from the street and door slams are common. Private rooms are compact, as this is a former courthouse.

Breakfast is served daily from 07:00 to 10:30 with à la carte options including vegan choices such as waffles, porridge, cereals, bread, fruits, juices, and plant-based milks. Pre-paying for breakfast combos offers good value. The bar serves coffee, drinks, and lunch/dinner items. There is no self-catering kitchen or food storage. Nearby dining includes several restaurants and cafés within a 5-10 minute walk along the Royal Mile.

The hostel organizes free walking tours led by staff, which depart from the property and cover Edinburgh's historic centre. A WhatsApp group helps solo travellers connect and join activities such as whisky tastings and craft evenings. Board games are available for guest use. There is no gym, pool, or spa on site.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the building, but connection speed can be inconsistent in the lower floors. Reception is staffed around the clock. Free luggage storage is available before check-in and after check-out. Laundry machines are available with free washing powder. Hair dryers can be borrowed from reception. The shared bathrooms are cleaned daily and are located on the same floor as the rooms, though some dormitories are a short walk from the nearest bathroom. The building has multiple access-controlled doors for security. No bicycle storage is available, but there is a gated fence outside for chaining bikes.
