THE BARRINGTON HOTEL, Halifax

The Barrington Hotel sits at the centre of downtown Halifax, placing the Halifax Waterfront, Citadel National Historic Site, and Scotiabank Centre within a 5-minute walk. The indoor Downtown Link pedway system connects directly to Scotia Square Mall (with a food court and pharmacy), Casino Nova Scotia, and other downtown buildings - allowing guests to reach many destinations without going outside during winter. The airport bus (MetroX 320) stops across the street, and several major bus routes run nearby. Dalhousie University is a 6-minute drive (2 km). The waterfront boardwalk, with its restaurants, shops, and ferry terminal to Dartmouth, is a short downhill walk. Note that Barrington Street has limited curbside drop-off space due to construction, and no valet service is available.

Guest rooms range from standard doubles and king rooms to Junior Suites with a sitting area and One Bedroom Suites with separate living/dining areas and a double pullout couch. All rooms feature a triple-sheeted pillowtop bed, 55-inch Smart TV, mini-fridge, coffee/tea maker, writing desk, iron/ironing board, and hair dryer. Wi-Fi is free. Some rooms offer harbour views. The property has an older feel - carpets and furniture may appear dated, and a few rooms have reported issues with noise from hallways, road traffic, or in-room ventilation fans. Air conditioning is central and can be loud. No rooms have a balcony. Microwaves are available on request. The hotel can accommodate early arrivals and late check-outs subject to availability, and luggage storage is free.

Tempo Food + Drink is open Monday-Friday 7:00-22:00, Saturday 8:00-22:00, and Sunday 8:00-14:00. Breakfast is available à la carte (not included) for approximately CAD 25 per person. The indoor swimming pool is heated, open daily 06:00-23:00, and comes with pool/beach towels and sun loungers. There is also a sauna (free) and a fitness centre with cardio and weight equipment (free). The fitness room has been noted to show some wear, with older machines. The pool water clarity has sometimes been reported as cloudy. The wellness area is best suited for a quick swim or workout rather than a full spa experience; the hotel does not have a spa or massage services.

Parking is off-site at Scotia Square Mall parkade (across the street, 2-3 min walk via pedway) and costs CAD 18-30 per day depending on in/out access - no reservation needed.
