The property sits right off Palm Canyon Drive in a quiet neighborhood, about 2 km from downtown and a 5-minute drive from Central Palm Springs. Numerous restaurants, convenience stores, and a pharmacy are within walking distance (0.5 km). Spa Resort Casino is also 5 minutes' drive away, and O'Donnell Golf Club is 3 km away. The location is well-suited for exploring the area by car; it is a short drive to Joshua Tree National Park and close to hiking trails. Parking is ample and free, with reserved spots. The half-hour walk to the main strip is possible but less pleasant in high heat, so a car is recommended for touring.

Each villa offers a king-size bed in the master bedroom, either two twin beds or one queen in the second bedroom, and a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room - accommodating up to 6 people. Units feature air conditioning, heating, a patio (ground floor) or terrace (upper floor), free WiFi, cable TV with DVD player, and a washing machine/dryer. The property is older with a dated decor, though many units are clean and well-maintained. Upstairs units are generally quieter, avoiding noise from above. Some units have mountain views, while others overlook parking lots or construction sites. Rooms have been reported to occasionally have an odor, which may be more noticeable in lower-level units. Beds are comfortable for many, but mattresses can be firm.

Desert Vacation Villas does not provide a restaurant, bar, or breakfast. Each villa is equipped with a full-size kitchen (stove, refrigerator, dishwasher) and stocked with cookware, tableware for six, and basic cleaning supplies. There are also two barbecue grills available by the pool. Numerous dining options - including Wexler's, Sandfish Sushi & Whiskey, J J's, and Rick's Desert Grill - are within a 0.5 km walk, providing alternatives for those who prefer not to cook.

The property features one heated outdoor swimming pool with a view, sun loungers, and a hot tub. The pool and hot tub are open daily from 7:00 to 23:00. Free bicycle rental and a table tennis table are available. There is no fitness centre on site, but a gym is located about 3 km away. The barbecue area has two grills. Leisure activities off-site include hiking, horse riding, golf, and bowling (at an additional cost). The pool area can be busy during peak hours, but many find it quiet and relaxing.

Free WiFi is available throughout the property, though connectivity can be inconsistent in some units. On-site parking is free but requires a reservation. A guest launderette is available for an additional charge. Vending machines for drinks and snacks are on site. Express check-in/out is available, and the front desk is staffed until 17:00 (until 22:00 on Fridays). After-hours check-in is possible via a lockbox after contacting the office.
