EDO TOKYO HOSTEL, Tokyo

The hostel sits in a calm residential area 25km from Haneda Airport. Shin-Koiwa station provides direct rail access to central Tokyo hubs - 12min to Tokyo Station, 15min to Akihabara, 20min to Asakusa - making the location practical for reaching major sightseeing and business districts without changing lines. Katori Shrine is a 4-minute walk and Sugiyama Art Museum is 300metres away. The neighbourhood has a shopping street with convenience stores, grocery shops and several inexpensive eateries, which is particularly useful given the hostel does not serve meals. Walkability is good for daily errands, but reaching Yotsugi or other eastern suburbs requires a 30-minute walk or bus ride.

All beds are in one large room that also contains the common lounge and dining area, which encourages a social atmosphere. Each bunk is built wider than typical hostel models, offering enough space to store a bag on the bed itself. Every bed has its own curtain, reading light and power outlet. The room includes air conditioning (free), heating, and a designated balcony. Windows and curtains are provided; the main light is switched off from 23:00 to 10:00 to help maintain a quiet sleeping environment. The closest bathroom type is a shared bathroom - no private bathroom options exist. Towels are not provided and must be brought by the occupant. The mattress is described as thin but comfortable; pillows may feel flat for some preferences.

The property does not serve breakfast or operate a restaurant, so all meals must be planned independently. The shared kitchen is equipped with a microwave, electric kettle, refrigerator, washing machine, dryer and dining table - enough for preparing simple meals and storing groceries. A shopping strip with convenience stores, grocery shops, ramen bars and casual Japanese diners is immediately outside the hostel, with popular spots such as Arina de Panaderia (0.3km), Chinese Soba Ibuki (0.3km) and Gyoza-No-Ohsho Shinkoiwa Lumiere (0.5km) all within easy reach by foot.

WiFi is available throughout the property free of charge. Luggage can be left at no cost on the check-in and check-out dates; any storage before check-in or after check-out incurs a fee of 500yen per suitcase per day. A shared lounge with a TV is provided. Laundry facilities (washing machine and dryer) are available for a small fee. Showers cost 100yen per 15 minutes and include body soap and shampoo. A locker can be rented for 100yen if you do not bring your own lock. The property uses CCTV in common areas, smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. The manager and staff are present during reception hours and can assist with luggage forwarding (Kuroneko) if needed. There is no lift, no business centre, and no designated parking.
