Navy Pier and the Riverwalk are both about a 5-minute walk away. The Theatre District, numerous restaurants, and the CTA's Clark/Lake, State/Lake, and Lake stations (including the Red and Blue Lines) are within a 5-10 minute walk. The closest major airport is Midway International Airport; no shuttle service is available to or from either airport. Public parking is available nearby for a fee.

Certain rooms are designated as historic rooms with original wooden floors and can be requested by room number before arrival. Room sizes are generally compact, with some designated as spacious and standard. Bed comfort is generally good. The air conditioning and heating units can be noisy and may produce a continuous whining or humming sound, especially in older rooms. Windows are not fully soundproofed, and street noise, including sirens and garbage trucks, can be heard on lower floors. Some rooms have reported issues with the television remote control. There is no in-room safe or balcony.
