The hotel sits in a practical transit-oriented location, just off the freeway and about a 25-minute drive from O'Hare. A complimentary shuttle runs within a 5 km radius (8am-4pm), making local trips to the Metra station, shopping centres and the convention centre easy without a car. Ample free parking is available on site (reservation recommended). Numerous restaurants, grocery stores and convenience shops are within walking distance or a short drive, and the surrounding area is well-lit and safe for short walks.

All rooms include a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, refrigerator and flat-screen cable TV for convenient self-catering and entertainment. Private bathrooms come with free toiletries, a hairdryer, and either a shower or bath. Select rooms (507 and 607) have an in-room jacuzzi tub. The property offers both double rooms with two queen beds and suites with a separate living area. While many rooms are large and comfortable, portions of the hotel show age, with some furnishings and carpets feeling dated or worn. Sound reduction between rooms is moderate, so road-facing or hallway-adjacent rooms may be less quiet. Room-entry key cards sometimes malfunction; a quick slide technique usually resolves it.

Breakfast is a free continental meal with cold items such as pastries, bread, cereal, fruit and hot drinks. It is served in a designated room but is often not restocked after 8am, so arriving early is recommended. For lunch and dinner, the Black Hawk Restaurant and bar offers American cuisine and cocktails (Monday-Sunday 4pm-11pm; closed Wednesday). A snack bar and vending machines with drinks are also available on site. Numerous chain and local restaurants - including Harold's Chicken, Rosati's Pizza, Panda Express and Wendy's - are within a 1km walk for alternative dining.

The outdoor heated pool is open from April to October, with pool towels, sun loungers and umbrellas provided at no extra cost. The pool area is fenced for safety. A free fitness centre with basic equipment (treadmill, weights) allows a quick workout. The hotel also has a hot tub/jacuzzi available to all guests. No spa or wellness centre is on site.

The 24-hour front desk can assist with early/late check-in, luggage storage (additional charge), and express check-in/out.
