HAYSTACK HOSTEL, Edinburgh

The hostel sits in a prime city-centre spot surrounded by shops, bars, and restaurants. Waverley Station is a two-minute walk, providing direct rail links across Edinburgh and to the airport. The Royal Mile, the castle, and major attractions are all within a 10- to 15-minute walk. No parking is available on site, but the central location means most sights are easily reached on foot or by public transport.

Rooms are basic but functional, with bed linen and towels included. Bunks are arranged in three tiers, which can feel cramped for taller guests or those in lower bunks. Each bed has a curtain for privacy and a personal locker (lock required). Shared bathrooms are separate for men and women and are cleaned daily. Some rooms face the street and may experience noise from bars and ventilation fans. The hostel is on the 4th floor with no lift, so packing light is recommended. Heating is provided, though air conditioning is not available.

The hostel organises free pub crawls and walking tours, providing an easy way to explore the city and meet other travellers. A dedicated games room offers board games and puzzles. There is no spa, pool, or gym on site, but the central location puts Edinburgh's parks, historic sites, and nightlife within easy walking distance.
