ASTOR MUSEUM HOSTEL, London

The hostel is a 10-minute walk from Oxford Street, and 15 minutes from Covent Garden and Leicester Square. Soho, Piccadilly Circus, and Trafalgar Square are all within a 20-minute walk. Holborn and Russell Square underground stations are 500 metres away, and Tottenham Court Road station is 600 metres away. London City Airport is 13 km from the property. The immediate area is well-served by restaurants, cafés, and shops, making it easy to explore central London on foot. The hostel itself is on a quiet street, offering a calmer base than many other central locations.

Rooms are modestly sized (around 17-18 m² for an 8-bed dorm) and feature bunk beds with individual reading lights and charging points (UK plug and USB). A sink is provided inside each room, along with an electric kettle and tea/coffee making facilities in twin private rooms. Under-bed metal cages (bring your own padlock) offer luggage storage. Some rooms are in the main building (with the lounge, kitchen, and reception), while others are in the annex a 1-2 minute walk away; the annex has no common areas, so guests need to walk to the main building for kitchen and lounge use. The building has no lift, and stairs can be steep. Bunk beds are typically two-level, though some triple-level bunks exist. Rooms can get warm, especially in warmer weather, as windows open only a small amount. Some rooms face the street and can be noisy. The property has a non-smoking policy throughout.

The hostel runs a variety of free and paid activities including evening entertainment (free), walking tours (free), pub crawls (additional charge), themed dinner nights (additional charge), and bicycle rental (additional charge). Board games and a shared lounge/TV area are available on site. There is a sun terrace with outdoor furniture. Astrology nights, comedy nights, and games in the park are among the regular events, creating a social atmosphere suitable for meeting other travellers. Russell Square park is a short walk away for outdoor relaxation.

The 24-hour front desk offers concierge service, safe deposit boxes, and key card access to the building. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms and common areas. Luggage storage is free before check-in and available for a small fee (£2.50-£4) after check-out. Lockers at reception (bring your own padlock) can secure small valuables. Daily housekeeping is included, and laundry services are available for an additional charge (one washing machine and dryer; note the washing machine payment system can be unreliable). The shared kitchen is cleaned mid-morning daily, during which time it is vacated. Hair dryers, irons and ironing boards can be borrowed from reception free of charge. Towels, padlocks, adaptors, toothpaste, and earplugs can be purchased at reception. There is a vending machine for drinks and snacks. The property accepts Visa, Maestro, UnionPay, and MasterCard.
