HILTON GARDEN INN SAN DIEGO OLD TOWN/SEA WORLD AREA, San Diego

The hotel is at the edge of historic Old Town, with restaurants and shops within walking distance. The Old Town Trolley station is about a five-minute walk, offering direct rail access downtown and to the airport via the 992 bus route (two blocks away). The University of San Diego is 2 km north, and SeaWorld is a seven-minute drive. The National Comedy Theatre is 3 km away, and the beach is approximately 12 minutes by car. The immediate area is safe and walkable, though some sidewalks may have debris. The location is particularly convenient for car-free travel, with public transport links to major attractions and the airport.

Rooms are larger than average, with many featuring a separate seating area. Beds are generally comfortable, though some find them on the firmer side; pillow options (foam) are available on request. The bathrooms are roomy with good light and a shower. Noise levels can vary: rooms near the elevator, ice machine, or on lower floors may hear footsteps and mechanical vibration from the HVAC. A fourth-floor room away from these sources offers the quietest experience. Housekeeping is not automatic daily - guests need to request fresh towels or cleaning at the front desk.

Verde Kitchen & Bar operates from 06:00-10:00 and 17:00-22:00 on weekdays, with weekend hours from 07:00. The breakfast buffet includes eggs, bacon, bread, and yogurt at a cost of 15 USD per person; a la carte options are also available. Dinner offers a good-quality salmon and other well-prepared dishes, with attentive service from staff. The bar/lounge provides a pleasant atmosphere for evening drinks. For a wider variety, the surrounding Old Town area has numerous Mexican restaurants within a 0.5 km walk, including Casa De Reyes and Cafe Coyote.

The heated outdoor pool is suitable for families and open year-round. The hot tub is a relaxing feature, though its temperature can occasionally be inconsistent. The fitness center is open 24/7 and includes treadmills, elliptical machines, a stationary bike, free weights up to 23 kg, and a bench. It lacks yoga mats and can be warm, making it best for moderate workouts. The pool and spa are popular for unwinding after a day of sightseeing or travel.

Wi-Fi is free in public areas and reasonably fast. The 24-hour front desk can assist with luggage storage and local questions. The business centre and meeting/banquet facilities are available for work needs. Parking includes accessible spots, a parking garage, and four free CCS electric vehicle charging stations (6 kWh) in the garage. The hotel is wheelchair accessible with a lift. Safety features include 24-hour security, key card access, and in-room safes. Pets are allowed for an additional charge.
