The hostel sits in the heart of Ocean Beach, just two blocks from the Pacific Ocean. San Diego International Airport is 6 km away, Sunset Cliffs is 3 km, SeaWorld San Diego is 5 km, and Balboa Park is 14 km. A bus stop is half a block away, providing easy access to other parts of San Diego. The area is lively with many dining options, a farmers market on Wednesdays, and a grocery store (Krisp) across the street. Free street parking is available a couple of blocks away, but parking directly on Newport Ave is limited to 2 hours.

Beds come with privacy curtains, individual reading lights, power outlets, and a shelf. Dormitory rooms have small lockers suitable for phones and wallets; larger luggage can be stored under the bed. Bunk beds are being renovated-newer bunks offer better comfort, while older ones may feel firm. Walls are thin, so noise from common areas can be heard. Rooms away from the back patio tend to be quieter and have less smoke odor. Private rooms include a hairdryer and chocolate in the room. Heating and air conditioning are available in all rooms.

The breakfast is basic but convenient for a quick start. The shared kitchen is well-equipped for cooking, with refrigerator, microwave, stove, and utensils (no oven). Vending machines offer snacks and drinks. For other meals, dozens of restaurants, bars, and a grocery store are within a short walk, providing plenty of alternatives.

Guests can rent surfboards for $12 per 3 hours and boogie boards for $5 per day. Free items include skim boards, beach towels, chairs, coolers, and balls. Organized activities include yoga classes on Sundays and Wednesdays, salsa dancing lessons on Mondays, and beach bonfires on Sundays. Board games, a shared lounge/TV area, and an outdoor patio with a hammock provide relaxation. A Wednesday farmers market sets up on the street in front.

Security features include 24-hour surveillance, key card access, CCTV, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and lockers. The property maintains a safe environment with strict rule enforcement.
