HOMEWOOD SUITES BY HILTON PORTLAND AIRPORT, Portland

The hotel sits in the Parkrose neighbourhood, 12 km from the Oregon Convention Center and 15 km from Portland Art Museum. The area is safe but primarily industrial; nearby dining includes Burger King, Sidelines Restaurant & Sports, China Wok, Subway, Jimmy John's, and a Starbucks drive-thru-all within 1 km. A walking path along the Columbia River is close by. The free airport shuttle covers only a 5 km radius around the hotel; for downtown Portland, take the MAX light rail (the shuttle can drop you at the station). Parking spaces are tight, especially at night.

Room types range from king suites to two-bedroom suites, each with two bathrooms. Every room has a sofa sleeper and a kitchen equipped with a full-size refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, dishwasher, and cooking utensils. Beds are comfortable with extra pillows available; top-floor rooms are notably quiet. Some units show moderate wear on carpets and furniture, and the air-conditioning can be noisy in a few rooms. The bathroom layout features the toilet and shower/tub in a separate space with the vanity outside. No balconies are available. All rooms are non-smoking.

The breakfast buffet includes scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, breakfast burrito fixings on some days, a waffle station, yogurt, cereals, bagels, and toast. Staff keep the buffet replenished and can prepare a to-go bag for early departures. There is no lunch or dinner service; a snack bar offers packaged items and drinks (wine and champagne available for a charge). Several fast-food chains are within a 1-km walk, and a wider selection of sit-down restaurants is a short drive away at Cascade Station.

WiFi is free throughout the hotel but can be unreliable; a premium fast-speed connection is available for an additional fee. The business centre offers fax and photocopying. Laundry is coinless-$1.75 to wash and $1.75 to dry using a card; detergent and dryer sheets are sold at the minimarket. The property is wheelchair accessible with accessible parking and a lift. Luggage storage is free. A 24-hour minimarket sells snacks, drinks, and travel essentials. Connecting rooms and cots are available. Safety features include key card access, smoke alarms, and a safe deposit box at the front desk.
