HOSTAL MARENOSTRUM, Barcelona

The hostal sits in the heart of Barcelona's most famous boulevard. La Boqueria market is a 2-minute walk away, and Plaça Catalunya, the Cathedral, and the Gothic Quarter are all within about 10 minutes on foot. The beach is a 15-minute stroll down La Rambla. A wide selection of restaurants and tapas bars are within 300 metres. The metro station gives direct access to Sants station for trains and airport connections. No parking is available, so public transport or taxis are the best ways to reach the property.

Rooms are compact but efficiently designed. All have a private bathroom with shower, free toiletries, and a hairdryer. Each room includes a flat-screen TV, a fold-down desk, and a small wardrobe. Some rooms have a balcony and views over La Rambla, while others face an interior courtyard or an air shaft. Soundproofing is present but may not fully block street noise; rooms overlooking La Rambla can be lively. An electric kettle is not allowed in rooms, but free hot water is available in the dining area 24 hours. Air conditioning is directed away from beds to avoid drafts. Daily housekeeping is offered with option to choose cleaning frequency.

The buffet includes bread, cheese, pastries, cold cuts, boiled eggs, yoghurt, fresh fruit, cereal, milk, coffee, tea, and juices. There are no hot cooked options. The breakfast room overlooks La Rambla, offering a pleasant start to the day. No restaurant or bar is on site, but a vending machine provides drinks. Several cafés and restaurants are within a few minutes' walk, and some offer a discount coupon to guests.
