The historic Köpenick Old Town, with shops, cafés and numerous restaurants along the waterfront and in the streets behind, is a 5-10 minute walk. The Wuhlheide open-air concert venue is conveniently close, making this a practical base for event visitors. Secure underground parking is available, but spots cannot be reserved and street parking can be tight during local construction.

Rooms at Hotel Kubrat are practically furnished with carpeted floors, a desk, satellite TV, heating, and a mini-bar. En-suite bathrooms are private and generally large, though some fixtures show age and limescale. Only three rooms have a balcony, all with a view over the Spree; other Spree-view rooms are available without a balcony. Windows can be opened for fresh air, but road-facing rooms may experience some noise from nearby restaurants and passing boats in the evening. The property is older and some furniture and mattresses are worn, though cleanliness is consistently noted. A lift serves most floors but has been reported out of service at times. A basic fan is not always available, so light sleepers sensitive to warmth or noise may want to pack earplugs.

However, the hotel's position at the edge of the Spree makes it an excellent starting point for cycling and walking along the river. The Wuhlheide park and open-air stage are close by, and the historic Köpenick Old Town offers many opportunities for relaxed exploration. The terrace and beer garden are open in the summer months, and riverside restaurants and bars are within walking distance. The neighbourhood is green and quiet, ideal for a peaceful stay.
