HOTEL SIENA, Tokyo

The hotel sits in the heart of Shinjuku's iconic Kabukicho entertainment area, surrounded by countless restaurants, bars, karaoke venues, and convenience stores. JR Shinjuku Station is an 8-minute walk, providing direct rail access across Tokyo and to the airport. Shinjuku Sanchome Subway Station is even closer, and Shinjuku Gyoen Park is a 13-minute stroll away. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building observatory is a 20-minute walk. The area is intensely vibrant day and night, with non-stop street life; the immediate vicinity can feel seedy after dark but is well-connected and walkable. For car-free travel, the nearby stations make exploring the rest of Tokyo easy.

Each room includes an en suite bathroom with a bath and free toiletries, plus a flat-screen TV, mini fridge, and tea/coffee-making facilities. Room sizes vary, with some units noticeably larger than typical Japanese hotel rooms, offering a desk, wardrobe, and seating area. The building is older, and the interior decor feels dated. Some rooms may retain a smoky odor even if booked as non-smoking. Air conditioning units can be noisy and may have pre-set timers. Bed comfort varies, with some mattresses described as firm. Sound insulation is limited; noise from the street and neighboring rooms can be an issue, especially in rooms facing the street. Road-facing rooms are less suitable for light sleepers.

The hotel does not have its own restaurant, bar, or cafe, and does not serve breakfast. However, the location in Kabukicho places it in one of Tokyo's densest dining neighborhoods, with izakaya, ramen shops, sushi bars, and international cuisine all within a few minutes' walk. A convenience store on the ground floor sells drinks, snacks, and basic toiletries. For a full meal, Mirakutei, Tsurutontan Shinjuku, and Hanezu are all 0.5 km away, with Kyochabana and Tsumugi Honten equally close. Breakfast can be found at nearby cafes or convenience stores.

Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms. The hotel operates a 24-hour front desk and offers complimentary luggage storage - useful for early arrivals or late departures. Daily room cleaning is provided. A convenience store and hair salon are located on the premises. Additional services include a trouser press, fax/photocopying (free), and a safety deposit system via the front desk. The hotel uses physical keys that must be left at the reception desk on level 2 each time you leave the building, which can be an inconvenience as the lift stops on the 3rd floor. The reception staff are generally described as friendly, though some may have limited English. Air conditioning, heating, and a lift are available. The property is non-smoking throughout, but some rooms and corridors may have residual smoke odor.
