IBIS STYLES LYON CENTRE CONFLUENCE, Lyon

The hotel sits on the edge of the A6/7 motorway, providing quick road access but also significant traffic noise, especially in street-facing rooms. The immediate area contains several hotels and a shopping centre (La Confluence 13 minutes on foot), but the immediate vicinity has limited dining variety. The tram stop outside connects directly to the city centre (about 20 minutes' walk to Presqu'île) and to Perrache train station. The location is practical for car and rail travellers, but those wanting a quiet, picturesque setting may prefer rooms facing the river. On-street parking is scarce and has been subject to break-ins, making the hotel's underground garage strongly recommended.

Room sizes vary: some are described as spacious, others as compact. Street-facing rooms can be very noisy if the window is opened due to motorway traffic; the soundproofing is effective when windows are closed, but air-conditioning has been reported as unreliable in some instances. Rooms may feature a decorative pop-culture theme (e.g., large portraits) and some have small, barred windows with limited views. Storage space is limited, especially in family rooms. Bathrooms are functional but the shower design can lead to water on the floor. The hotel can accommodate one baby cot in some rooms, but no extra beds. For light sleepers, a river-facing room is strongly recommended. Overall, the accommodation is practical for short stays and transit trips, less suited for those prioritising spaciousness or scenic views.

The breakfast buffet includes both sweet and savoury options, fresh bread, pastries, hot drinks, and a coffee machine that has been rated highly. The buffet is replenished during service, but can feel cramped when busy. The on-site restaurant, AUGUSTE LE BISTROT, is open Monday to Friday for lunch (12:00-14:00) and dinner (19:00-22:00) and offers vegetarian and gluten-free options on request. The bar serves snacks and drinks, and there is a snack bar. Several restaurants and shops are within a 15-minute walk, including Italian and French bistros about 0.5 km away. Guests who plan to arrive on weekends or after restaurant hours should dine elsewhere in advance.

For guests seeking wellness facilities, no spa or pool is available. The hotel provides a children's playground, and board games/puzzles are offered for family entertainment. The shared lounge/TV area and the bar provide relaxation space. Active guests will find the tram and walking paths along the Rhône suitable for exploring the city. The location also offers easy access to the Musée des Confluences and the shopping centre La Confluence.

Internet is free in all areas. The reception is staffed 24 hours, offering concierge service, express check-in/check-out (surcharge), and free luggage storage - useful for early arrivals or late departures. Paid services include laundry, dry cleaning, ironing, and business centre/meeting facilities. Safety features include 24-hour security, safety deposit boxes, and smoke alarms. The hotel has lifts, but one lift was reported to malfunction; accessible rooms include lower bathroom sinks, raised toilets, and grab rails. Pets are allowed with applicable charges. Public transport tickets can be purchased at reception. The hotel does not have an airport shuttle, but the nearby tram and train provide alternatives.
