BEST WESTERN JAMAICA INN, New York

The property sits directly next to the Van Wyck Expressway, resulting in constant traffic noise day and night, particularly in lower-floor or road-facing rooms. The nearest subway stations - E (Jamaica-Van Wyck) and F (Briarwood-Van Wyck) - are roughly a 10-minute walk, providing direct routes to Manhattan (about 24 km away), JFK Airport, Arthur Ashe Stadium, Citi Field, and other landmarks. Queens College and St. John's University are also within 10 km. A range of quick-service restaurants such as KFC, Wendy's, Subway, and sushi are within 0.3-0.5 km, along with a Briarwood Cafe. For those driving, the free on-site parking lot is convenient, but spaces can fill up and the lot is tight; arriving earlier in the day is recommended. An Uber from the hotel to either airport typically costs $20 or less.

All guest rooms offer a microwave, refrigerator, flat-screen cable TV, air conditioning, heating, and tea/coffee-making facilities. Some rooms have been recently updated with modern decor and clean furnishings, while others are described as dated with worn carpets, stained walls, and cracked ceilings. Soundproofing is poor throughout the property: traffic from the adjacent expressway, hallway noise, and slamming doors are common; rooms near the lift or on lower levels are particularly noisy. Some windows do not close properly, letting in cold air and outside sound. Bathrooms are generally functional but can have issues such as non-flushing toilets, stained tubs, and a lack of toilet paper holders. A limited number of accessible rooms are available. Overall, the accommodation is best suited for budget-conscious travelers seeking practical amenities and proximity to transport, rather than those prioritizing a restful or modern environment.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and runs from 07:00 to 10:00 each morning. The offering is a continental-style buffet with hot items such as scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, and an automatic pancake maker, plus cold cereals, yogurt, pastries, bread, jams, and hot drinks. The breakfast area is located in the basement without windows. Quality is typical for a budget hotel; items are served on disposable plates with plastic cutlery, which some find wasteful. The breakfast attendants are often praised for being hospitable and keeping the area stocked. Arriving earlier in the serving window gives the widest selection, as popular hot items can run low later. There are no other food options within the hotel (snack vending machines are present but have been reported as empty or non-functional). Several fast-food restaurants and a cafe are within a short walk.
