The hostel sits on top of Landungsbrücken U-Bahn/S-Bahn station, giving direct 8-minute connections to Hamburg Central Station via the U3 line. A 20-minute drive from Hamburg Airport, and within walking distance of the harbour, Fish Market, and the Schanzenviertel district (both 20 minutes on foot). Several restaurants and bars are within 300-500 metres. The Reeperbahn nightlife district is 500 metres away. The hill climb with stairs from the station may be difficult with large luggage; a lift is available from street level.

Accommodation ranges from private rooms (quadruple with private shower) to dormitories of 6 or 8 beds. Six-bed rooms have ensuite bathrooms, while 8-bed rooms use a shared lockable bathroom area between rooms. All beds are bunk beds; bed linen is provided and must be collected from reception. Rooms are compact and basic; have no reading lights or balcony. Some larger dorms are spacious. Window ventilation is partial only; no air conditioning. Lockers with code locks are in each room; power sockets are inside lockers and by the bed. A shared kitchen is available. Housekeeping is not daily; residents are expected to strip beds and place linen in the laundry basket on departure.

Breakfast is served 07:00-09:30 (07:00-10:30 on Sundays) and includes a buffet with bread, pastries, cheeses, cold cuts, salads, fruit, and hot drinks with a selection of teas. Vegan and vegetarian options are available. The on-site Chicago Backpackers Bistro serves snacks and cocktails. Evening dinner is available for €9, including a salad buffet, dessert, and a drink-good value. The Panorama Lobby and terrace offer harbour views while dining. Vending machines for drinks and snacks are also available.

Guests can play billiards (additional charge) or free table tennis. Board games and puzzles are available. The shared lounge and TV area offers a space to relax. The panoramic terrace with harbour views is a popular spot for unwinding. There is no spa, no fitness centre, and no swimming pool.

Wi-Fi is free in public areas-the connection quality is generally good but may be weaker in some rooms. The 24-hour front desk offers check-in/out, luggage storage (free, but items stored at owner's risk), and tour desk services. Lockers with code locks are in every room. Shared kitchen is available.
