LA QUINTA INN & SUITES BY WYNDHAM ST. AUGUSTINE, St. Augustine

The hotel sits next to major highways, providing easy access to the historic district (about 10-15 minutes by car), the beach, and other attractions. The immediate area offers fast-food options like Burger King, KFC, and IHOP, as well as a Texas Roadhouse that is walking distance. A Wawa gas station is right off the property, and shuttle services in the area can help you avoid driving into the tourist zone. The property is set back from the main road in a quiet, safe area with landscaping and a pond, making dog walks pleasant.

Room quality varies significantly. The more reliable rooms feature hard flooring (no carpet) which reduces odour and improves cleanliness. Carpeted rooms are prone to musty odours, pet urine smells, and mould, especially on the first floor. Beds are often described as comfortable, but some mattresses are worn, noisy, or have collapsed edges. Pull-out sofas are frequently stained and should be avoided. Bathrooms may have mould around the shower, rusty fixtures, and slow-draining sinks. Towels can be thin or stained. Request a room on the second floor with laminate/hard floors, and consider bringing your own pillow or mattress topper.

The hotel offers a complimentary hot breakfast daily with self-serve waffles, eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, muffins, bagels, toast, juice, and coffee. The breakfast area is usually well-stocked but items can run out quickly, especially after 9:00 AM. The breakfast staff is friendly and keeps the space clean. For other meals, many chain restaurants (Burger King, Ruby Tuesday, Sonny's BBQ, IHOP, KFC) and a Texas Roadhouse are within walking distance. The area also has a Wawa for snacks and drinks.

The hotel features an outdoor swimming pool and a small fitness centre. The pool hours are not consistently enforced; some staff state it closes at 10:00 PM, others at dark. The pool area may require more frequent cleaning. The fitness centre has basic equipment but some machines have been reported as broken. There is no hot tub or spa on-site. For leisure, the area offers golf courses, the World Golf Village, and easy access to St. Augustine's historic and beach attractions.
