MELTON HOTEL AUBURN, Sydney

The hotel sits on Parramatta Road, a busy main artery, so rooms at the front may experience traffic noise. The train station is an easy 5-minute walk and offers direct service to Olympic Park and the city, making it a practical choice for stadium events. Olympic Park is approximately 3 km - a 30-45 minute walk or a short drive. Paddy's Flemington Markets and DFO Outlet Mall are within a 7-10 minute drive. Several fast-food and casual dining options, including Krispy Kreme, McDonald's, and a Thai Garden, are within 1-2 km on foot.

Rooms are generally compact but functional, with some rated as more spacious than expected, particularly the Family and Large Family Suites. All standard rooms feature a TV, electric kettle, ironing facilities, and free Wi-Fi. Air conditioning is available in some rooms but not all; rooms without it may feel warm during summer. Bathrooms are shared across 19 rooms with three sets of facilities, and access to a shared kitchen with microwave only. The Large Family Suite is a self-contained unit with its own bathroom, lounge, and kitchen - ideal for families or longer stays. Rooms at the back are quieter, while those fronting Parramatta Road experience higher traffic noise. The hotel's older-style charm means some finishes are dated; for a night's sleep before an event, the comfortable beds and low price point are the main draws.

The bistro is open from 12:00 to 21:00 every day, offering a family-friendly atmosphere with dishes such as steaks, burgers, chicken schnitzel with Dianne sauce, and a 300g scotch fillet. The food is well-regarded for its quality and value, particularly the steaks and burgers. A bar with a pool table and a VIP lounge is also available, along with a dedicated gaming area and a large covered outdoor smoking area with a big screen. Breakfast is not served, but the in-room cereal pack or a nearby café can be arranged. Several takeaway and dining options are within walking distance, including Krispy Kreme, McDonald's, and Thai restaurants along Parramatta Road.

The hotel does not have a spa, swimming pool, or gym. Recreation centres on the lively pub atmosphere downstairs: a pool table, a billiards room (with additional charge), a large gaming room with poker machines, and a main bar area. The pub features a large TV screen and a covered outdoor smoking area. For families, the bar and restaurant provide a casual entertainment option, and the location's proximity to Olympic Park allows access to its sporting and event venues.
