MICROTEL INN & SUITES BY WYNDHAM COLUMBIA, Columbia

Situated off Interstate 77 in Columbia, the hotel provides easy highway access for travelers passing through. The University of South Carolina is 10 minutes away by car, while Williams-Brice Stadium is 7 km and Fort Jackson is 10 km from the property. Columbia city centre is 8 km away, and the Riverbanks Zoo is less than a 20-minute drive. A variety of dining options are within a 0.5 km walk, including Arby's, Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, and Tokyo Grill, along with a Walmart for essentials. The hotel is located behind a Waffle House, which can make the driveway a bit tricky to find. For car-free travel, a car is recommended, as public transport options are limited.

All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, heating, cable TV, a tea and coffee maker, and free toiletries. Bed sizes are queen unless upgraded to a suite with a sofa bed. Private bathrooms are standard and include a bath or shower. Some rooms have a spa bath. Room sizes are compact, typical of the micro-hotel concept, and the bathrooms are small. Some rooms have limited natural light, and windows in standard rooms do not open for fresh air. Noise can be a factor on lower floors and in rooms facing the front. Rooms are functional and clean but may lack closets or dressers, so living out of a suitcase is expected.

The continental breakfast includes waffles, cereal, muffins, bagels, fruit, and coffee. The breakfast area is small, and the selection is basic, though it meets the needs of a quick bite. For those wanting more variety, the surrounding area has numerous fast-food and sit-down restaurants within a short walk, including Waffle House, Chick-fil-A, and Cook Out. Snacks and drinks can also be purchased from a small pantry behind the front desk at reasonable prices.

The only on-site wellness feature is yoga classes. There is no pool, spa, jacuzzi, or gym on the property. Local gyms, such as Planet Fitness, are a 5-minute drive away. For entertainment, the TV lounge and outdoor furniture provide simple relaxation options.
