MICROTEL INN & SUITES BY WYNDHAM COLUMBUS NEAR FORT BENNING, Columbus

The hotel's location is a primary advantage for military families and business travelers visiting Fort Moore/Benning, Georgia State University, and Columbus State University. The neighborhood is mixed-use; some areas feel less secure at night, but the property itself has good lighting and security. Several fast-food and local restaurants, including wings places and Vietnamese cuisine, are within a short drive. Downtown Columbus and its dining and entertainment options are about 15 minutes away by car. A car is essential for getting around, as public transit is limited.

Rooms range from compact double rooms to more spacious suites. All have private bathrooms with a bath and walk-in shower. Selected room types (queen and queen suites) include a refrigerator and microwave; suites add a kitchenette with coffee machine. The property has been partially renovated, so room conditions can vary - some appear modern and clean, while others show wear such as stained carpets or mold in bathrooms. Bedding is comfortable with fresh linens, but noise from hallways and neighboring rooms can be noticeable. Rooms facing the front may experience light from outdoor fixtures. Overall, the accommodations suit short stays focused on base or airport access.

The breakfast offering is basic: packaged muffins, bread for toast, cold cereal, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, and a self-serve pancake machine. Coffee and tea are available 24/7 in the lobby. There is no on-site restaurant, but several restaurants are within a few kilometers, including a Vietnamese/Korean spot and other fast-casual options. For a heartier meal, downtown Columbus has a wider selection. The hotel has a picnic area and BBQ facilities for guests who prefer to prepare their own food. The vending machines for drinks and snacks are available but may occasionally be out of service.

The hotel offers a business centre and meeting/banquet facilities for an additional charge. Daily housekeeping is free, but guests should note that room cleaning may need to be requested for full service (trash removal, towel replacement). A lift is available, and the property has accessible parking and rooms for disabled guests. Safety features include CCTV, key card access, and smoke alarms. Payment is taken at check-in. The staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, particularly James, Missy, and Angel. Laundry is available for a small fee, and luggage storage is offered for early arrivals or late departures.
