MOTEL 6 HOUSTON, TX - MEDICAL CENTER - NRG STADIUM, Houston

The hotel is situated next to the 610 South freeway, which makes driving to NRG Stadium (2 km), the Houston Zoo (5 km), and the University of Houston (13 km) practical. The area has a busy feel with nearby apartment buildings and loitering, so it is not recommended for walking after dark. For day-time trips, Golden Corral is a 5-minute walk away, and other fast-food options like Taqueria Arandas, KFC, and The Garden Kitchen are within 1-2 km. George Bush Intercontinental Airport is a 40-minute drive, and Memorial Hermann Hospital is 5 km away. The hotel does not offer a shuttle service, so a car or ride-hailing is essential for getting around.

Available room types include double rooms (1 bed) and quadruple rooms (2 beds), all with private bathrooms and air conditioning. Some rooms have been recently updated, but overall the property is dated with common issues including musty smells, mold near windows and bathrooms, poorly maintained floors (peeling/ lifting), and heavy insect presence (cockroaches). The bedding is very basic: a thin sheet-like cover on the bed instead of a proper blanket. Noise from the adjacent highway and nearby traffic is common, especially in rooms facing the street. The bed comfort and water pressure in the shower have been noted as adequate in some cases, while other rooms have temperature control problems. Given the variety in room conditions, it is wise to inspect the room upon arrival and request a change if it is unsatisfactory.

The only food and drink option on site is the snack bar / vending machine. Golden Corral is 0.5 km away, Taqueria Arandas 1 km, KFC 2 km, and The Garden Kitchen 2 km. Due to the heavy insect issues reported in the rooms, it is strongly recommended not to bring food into the room. Instead, plan to eat at nearby restaurants or get takeout and eat outside the room.

Practical on-site features include coin-operated laundry, a lift, and wheelchair-accessible rooms with grab rails. Parking is free and private but requires a reservation. The 24-hour front desk can accept cash and multiple credit cards. Pets are allowed with no extra fees. Business services such as fax and photocopying are available. The property is non-smoking throughout. The front desk staff can be hit-or-miss in terms of service attitude, but many employees, particularly Ashlyn, have been noted as friendly and helpful. Housekeeping and towel exchange require proactive requests at the desk.
