MOTEL ONE EDINBURGH-PRINCES, Edinburgh

The hotel sits on Edinburgh's main shopping thoroughfare, Princes Street, across from Waverley Station, making it ideal for train travellers. The National Gallery of Scotland, the Royal Scottish Academy, and the Sir Walter Scott Monument are within 500 metres. Numerous restaurants and traditional pubs are within a short walk on Princes Street, George Street, and Hanover Street. The airport tram stop is also within a few minutes' walk, providing a direct link to the airport. Edinburgh's Old Town, including the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle, is reachable in 10-15 minutes on foot. The area is very walkable for most tourist sites, with the well-stocked St James Quarter shopping centre next door.

All rooms feature soundproofed windows, heating, and a carpeted floor. Rooms are on the smaller side, with minimal furniture - no wardrobe or drawers, but a small hanging rail and shelving are provided. The bathrooms are modern but compact, with a shower and a combined shampoo/shower gel dispenser. Rooms lack air conditioning; a central ventilation system is in place, and fans are available on request. Windows open only a small amount for safety. For a better view, request a room on a higher floor facing Princes Street or the Castle, as courtyard-facing and low-floor rooms can have very limited natural light. A kettle with instant coffee and tea bags is provided, but note that only paper cups are supplied. There is no room phone; contact reception via the lift or by visiting in person. The single-use items (e.g., one bottle of water per stay) and lack of in-room amenities (no safe, no fridge) reflect the hotel's functional, budget-focused approach.

Breakfast is served in the bar area from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM on weekdays and 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM on weekends. The buffet includes bread, pastries, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, and hot drinks. There is no restaurant on site, so lunch and dinner are not available at the hotel. The One Lounge is open 24/7 and offers a bright, comfortable space for drinks, coffee, and snacks. For a full meal, numerous restaurants and pubs are within a two-minute walk on Princes Street, George Street, and nearby streets, including several well-rated options within 0.5 km. The hotel does not serve hot food for breakfast.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. The 24-hour front desk can assist with luggage storage (free of charge) before check-in or after check-out, which is useful for exploring the city without bags. Express check-in/check-out is available. Daily housekeeping is provided, though frequency can be requested. The hotel has a lift and offers soundproofed rooms. Safety features include key card access, CCTV, smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers. Irons and ironing boards are available from reception 24 hours a day. There is no business centre or meeting room on site. The hotel accepts American Express, Visa, Diners Club, Maestro, and MasterCard.
