APARTO FLORENCE MANIFATTURA, Florence

The hostel sits inside the Manifattura Tabacchi redevelopment - a former tobacco factory turned art-and-design hub with ateliers, cafés, restaurants, and event spaces on the doorstep. The location is about a 20-25 minute walk from Florence's main train station (Santa Maria Novella), and bus 17 stops just outside, reaching the city centre in around 10 minutes. Tram access (from the airport) involves a short walk plus about 15 minutes on foot. Parking is available in an underground garage roughly 150-200 metres away, costing €9 per day (reservation needed). The area is quiet and safe, with several dining options at nearby restaurants (e.g., Osteria Di Poneta, MUN sushi lab, El Gallito) within a 5-minute walk.

Accommodation ranges from 4-bed dorms to 6-bed family rooms, all with private bathrooms (shower, bidet, free toiletries). The beds are notably wide (often 120-150 cm), with thick mattresses and good-quality pillows. The property provides linens and towels. Each room has a wardrobe, a work desk, heating, and effective soundproofing - road-facing rooms are not an issue and the environment tends to be quiet, especially away from common zones. Rooms are cleaned daily. The design throughout is modern and minimalist; the building is brand new and very well-maintained. The space feels hotel-like rather than hostel-like in terms of comfort.

The gym is a standout feature - it's described as well-equipped with TechnoGym equipment and accessible 24/7 for overnight stays. A free self-service laundry room (washing machines and dryers) is also available. Common areas are large, modern, and include a cinema room, a games room with a jukebox, and multiple quiet areas for work or relaxation. The Manifattura Tabacchi complex itself hosts art galleries, events, and occasional markets, adding cultural leisure options within the same site. The outdoor space is limited, but the indoor facilities compensate well for a city-base hostel.

Wi-Fi is free and available throughout the building. Reception is staffed from 07:00 to 23:00; late-night check-in is handled by security. The staff are consistently described as exceptionally friendly and helpful, speaking multiple languages (German, English, Spanish, French, Italian). Luggage storage is offered for guests arriving early or leaving late. Daily housekeeping keeps the property very clean. The building is non-smoking throughout. There is no elevator, but the hostel is on the ground floor of a multi-storey building; stairs to upper beds inside dorms are wide and safe. Parking is the main operational note: it's off-site but nearby in a modern underground garage, costing €9 per 24 hours; reservation is required. The building feels secure at all times, with night security present.
