OSTELLO TASSO, Florence

Ostello Tasso sits in a quiet, safe residential area across the Arno, away from the tourist crowds. Pitti Palace is 13 minutes on foot, Strozzi Palace 17 minutes, and Piazza del Duomo about 2 km. The property is 7 km from Florence Airport; buses stop within a 3-minute walk linking to the city centre and Santa Maria Novella station. Several restaurants, trattorias, and a supermarket are all within a 5-minute radius. The neighbourhood is ideal for those who prefer a local atmosphere while staying close enough to walk to main attractions.

Accommodation includes private double/twin/family rooms and mixed-gender dormitories. Private rooms feature a private bathroom with walk-in shower, bidet, air conditioning, private entrance, and either one or three beds. Dormitories offer lockers large enough for backpacks. Rooms are generally spacious but basic in décor, with some showing signs of wear such as scuffed walls. Mosquito nets are not fitted on windows, so mosquitoes can be present. Thin walls mean noise from hallways and adjoining rooms carries easily. Guests who are sensitive to light sleep should consider earplugs and request a quiet room. Daily housekeeping is provided, but towel changes are not automatic and must be requested. Air conditioning is available but cannot be set below 23°C and may turn off in the early morning.

There is no restaurant or breakfast service at Ostello Tasso. The bar on the ground floor is open during evening hours and offers wine, beer, and champagne (for an additional charge). A small common area upstairs contains a microwave and a mini-fridge, but no cooking equipment or utensils - the kitchen is reserved for event staff. The surrounding area has numerous cafés, trattorias, and gelaterias within a short walk, such as Trattoria Al Tranvai and Culinaria Bistrot, ideal for meals and morning coffee.

WiFi is free and fast throughout the property, suitable for work. A lift serves upper floors. Free luggage storage is available before check-in and after check-out. Lockers are provided in dormitories. Daily housekeeping is complimentary, as is express check-in/out. Safety features include CCTV in common areas and outdoors, security alarm, smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers. Guests can use a shared lounge/TV area. Meeting and banquet facilities are available for an extra charge. The property is wheelchair accessible, with designated smoking areas and a non-smoking policy in rooms. Payment can be made by card or cash on arrival.
