RED ROOF INN PLUS JAMAICA, NY - JFK AIRPORT, New York

The hotel sits in the Jamaica neighbourhood of Queens, within walking distance of Jamaica Station (AirTrain for JFK, plus subway lines E and F to Manhattan in about 35 minutes). Grand Central Terminal and the United Nations are 21 km away, while Arthur Ashe Stadium (8 km) and Aqueduct Racetrack (5 km) are nearby. The immediate area is a densely populated urban strip with fast-food outlets, delis, and ethnic restaurants. At night the streets can feel unsafe and are poorly lit; walking from the station after dark is not recommended. Uber or a taxi (about $30-45) is a safer alternative for airport transfers.

Rooms are available with either one or two beds, and all include a private bathroom with a shower (some also have a bathtub), hairdryer, and free toiletries. In-room amenities cover heating, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, ironing facilities, and a tea and coffee maker. Room size is typically compact - the door can nearly touch the bed in some configurations. Noise from neighbouring rooms, hallway slamming doors, and outside traffic (including horns and trucks) is a recurring consideration. Air conditioning and heating units can be loud. Some rooms have been noted as spacious and clean, while others may feel small or dated. Light sleepers may prefer upper-floor rooms away from the street, though the elevator is frequently out of service.

Wellness and leisure facilities are absent: there is no swimming pool, fitness centre, sauna, hot tub, or games room. The hotel is positioned as a practical, no-frills base for travellers needing a room near JFK or the Jamaica transit hub. Nearby leisure options include Aqueduct Racetrack (horse racing, 5 km) and Arthur Ashe Stadium (tennis, 8 km), both reachable by car or train. For relaxation, the area offers multiple fast-food and deli options within walking distance, but no dedicated wellness or recreational amenities on the property.

The property offers a 24-hour front desk, free Wi-Fi throughout, and a business centre with fax/photocopying. Daily housekeeping is included. Luggage storage is available on request but without tagging or supervision - bags are left near the reception area. Vending machines for drinks and snacks are located on-site. Accessibility features meet wheelchair standards: a lift (when working), grab rails, raised toilet, and Braille visual aids. No parking is provided other than a free but very limited lot; street parking is the alternative. The hotel is fully non-smoking, though corridor smoke (both cigarette and marijuana) is a common concern. CCTV operates in common areas and outside the property, with key-card access and fire extinguishers for safety.
