Access requires using the frontage road and a turnaround loop when coming from any direction except north. The area can be noisy from road traffic and sirens, and some found the immediate surroundings less safe, especially at night. The Galveston cruise terminals are a 5-10 minute drive away.

Room sizes are spacious, furnished with 2 queen beds, a flat-screen TV, and tea/coffee facilities. However, the condition is highly inconsistent: missing microwaves and refrigerators, non-working TVs and remotes, broken door locks, broken furniture, stained carpets and bedding, mold, cockroaches, bed bugs, and missing smoke detectors are frequently reported. Air conditioning is generally effective against the humidity. Road-facing rooms experience significant traffic and siren noise. The lack of daily cleaning means you cannot rely on fresh towels or trash removal during your stay.

The continental breakfast, when available, has been described as basic, offering pre-packaged muffins, cream cheese, coffee, and tea. It may run out early (before 8:30 AM). There is no cooked breakfast, no restaurant, and no bar on site. Fast food restaurants, a gas station for snacks and drinks, and a Target with a café are within a few minutes' walk.

The outdoor pool may be open but its condition has varied, with reports of clean water on some occasions and green water with debris on others. The pool chairs and surrounding area may not be consistently maintained. There is no spa, gym, or indoor pool.
