ROSSI HOTEL, Rome

The hotel occupies the third floor of a building right across the street from Roma Termini, giving immediate access to high-speed trains, metro lines A and B, and bus/coach connections to both Ciampino and Fiumicino airports. Vittorio Emanuele Metro station is a 6-minute walk, Santa Maria Maggiore basilica is 500 metres away, and the Colosseum is roughly 19 minutes on foot. The surrounding streets have many restaurants, supermarkets and a food hall inside Termini station. The area near the station can feel less secure late at night, with some homeless presence, but the building is lockable and the hotel entrance is on the third floor. For those arriving by car, no private parking is available but several paid facilities are nearby. Using public transport is the most practical way to move around the city.

Rooms offer either private or shared bathrooms; shared bathrooms are outside the room and shared with one other room. Some rooms have a private shower inside the room with a separate toilet in the hallway. Flooring is tiled or parquet, and rooms include a work desk, wardrobe, hairdryer and a flat-screen TV. Air conditioning is available but units can be noisy, and in rooms with high ceilings the cooling may be less effective. Street-facing rooms can be noisy from traffic and passers-by, especially at night; inner courtyard rooms are quieter and offer a more restful sleep. Some rooms have a city view. The property is older and decor is functional rather than modern, with some rooms described as compact, particularly bathrooms. Free toiletries are provided, and daily housekeeping is included. A shared kitchen area is available for self-catering.

There is no breakfast service or restaurant at the hotel. A vending machine in the shared area offers coffee, snacks and drinks. The shared kitchen includes a fridge for guest use. Within a few minutes' walk, Termini station has a large food hall with a wide variety of cuisines, plus numerous independent restaurants on the surrounding streets - including Chinese (Hua Qiao, 0.5 km), Italian (Il Tartufo, 0.5 km; Da Giuseppe, 0.5 km), and Indian (Flavours of India Roma, 0.5 km). For a quick morning drink, bars inside Termini station are also very close. Plan to eat out for all meals as the hotel's own food offering is limited to the vending machines.

The hotel does not have a pool, spa, gym or any leisure facilities. The strength of the offer lies entirely in the central location - the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps are all within walking distance or a short metro ride from Termini station. For families, strollers (baby pushchairs) are available at the hotel.

Wi-Fi is free and available throughout the property, though strength can vary. The paid airport shuttle service covers both pick-up and drop-off; alternatively, public transport from Termini to the airports is cheap and frequent. Luggage storage is free and available from 09:00, allowing arrival before check-in or departure after check-out. Daily housekeeping is included. The lift serves upper floors, though some rooms are on the fourth floor reachable only by stairs if the lift is temporarily out of use. The shared lounge has a TV area and vending machines. Key access and fire extinguishers are provided for security. Check-out is at 11:00; the hotel locks overnight from 23:30 to 06:00 but staff can arrange early departure taxi bookings. Cots are available on request. There is no 24-hour front desk presence after the building locks.
