RYOKAN MIKAWAYA, Tokyo

The ryokan sits on a quiet side street just off the bustling Nakamise-dori, placing you steps from Sensoji Temple, the Drum Museum (500 metres), and a vast selection of restaurants. Asakusa Station is a 4-minute walk for direct metro access to Ginza, Ueno, and Tokyo Skytree (one stop). Haneda Airport is 22 km away - take the Keikyu line or airport limousine bus. The immediate area offers convenience stores, halal restaurants, and a Don Quijote, while the Sumida River and parks are a 5-minute walk west for a quieter atmosphere.

Rooms feature traditional tatami flooring and Japanese futon bedding, widely reported as more comfortable than typical hotel beds. The en suite bathroom includes a deep bathtub, shower, and daily-furnished toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap, comb, razor) plus fresh towels and yukata robes. Tea bags and coffee packets are refilled each morning. Upper-floor rooms have views of Tokyo Skytree or Nakamise-dori. Rooms are well sized for one person with luggage; two people with large suitcases may find the space tight but functional. Storage is practical - fold away the futon during the day to free up floor space. All rooms have air conditioning, heating, a flat-screen TV, and a hairdryer. No rooms have a balcony.

The ryokan does not operate a restaurant, café, or bar, and does not serve breakfast. A free self-service coffee and tea station is available in the lobby each morning. Within a 2-minute walk you'll find a wide variety of dining options including Asakusa Tsurujirou (0.5 km), Daikokuya Tempura (0.5 km), Kamiya Bar (0.5 km), and many other restaurants and halal-certified eateries. For groceries and snacks, convenience stores and a Don Quijote are steps away.

There is no swimming pool, public bath, or spa on site. Each private bathroom includes a deep bathtub with toiletries, serving as a simple personal wellness space. For leisure, the ryokan's location offers immediate access to the cultural attractions of Asakusa, including Sensoji Temple, Nakamise-dori shops, the Drum Museum, and the Sumida riverside walk.

A lift provides easy access to all floors from street level - useful for luggage. Reception is open from 7:30 to 22:00, and the building is secured with a doorbell system during the day and a key card for night entry (until 23:00). Daily housekeeping is provided and includes fresh towels, yukata robes, and room cleaning. A self-service laundry with washing machine and dryer is free to use for guests. Luggage storage is available free on check-in and check-out days (charges may apply on other days; storage not available on closed days). Wi-Fi is free in public areas; internet speed is reported as good. Accepted payment methods include American Express, Visa, JCB, and MasterCard. No airport shuttle is provided, and no parking is available.
