SLEEP INN & SUITES COLUMBUS NEAR FORT BENNING, Columbus

The hotel sits in a wooded area just off the main road, about 10 minutes from the base. South Commons Softball Complex, Columbus Civic Center, and historic downtown are minutes away. Nearby dining includes Taco Bell (1 km), KFC (0.5 km), CC's Place (1 km), Sharks Fish and Chicken (2 km), and Vallarta Mexican (2 km). The surrounding neighborhood is a mix of commercial and residential with some older, run-down buildings. It feels safe, especially for those familiar with military-area lodging. Ample, well-lit parking is available on site. A car is recommended for exploring Columbus attractions (Coca-Cola Space Science Center, RiverWalk, museums).

Rooms are large with a kitchenette including a full-size refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, two-burner cooktop, dishes, and cookware. Beds are comfortable (king, queen, or two queen beds). The bathroom has a bathtub, curved shower rod, and hairdryer. A few rooms have adjoining doors (book a specific combination of suites). Upper-floor rooms are accessible by lift. Air conditioning in rooms works well, but hallways and the elevator can be noticeably warm. Some rooms have been updated; others may show wear (sticky floors, mold in shower caulk, stained comforters). TV channels and premium cable are available; some remotes can be finicky. Free Wi-Fi is available but can be slow in high-use periods.

The outdoor saltwater pool is open seasonally, with sun loungers and umbrellas provided. A well-equipped fitness center is available 24/7 on site. For families, the hotel offers half-court basketball, horseshoes, a kids' movie room, and an outdoor gazebo with two grills and picnic tables set in a wooded backyard area that feels private and relaxed. The pool area can be closed for maintenance or winterization, so it is worth confirming availability before arrival if swimming is a priority. No jacuzzi or spa is on the property.

Free private parking is available on-site (reservation needed). The 24-hour front desk can assist with early/late check-in/out subject to availability. Daily housekeeping is offered, but some stays report it is not automatic; requesting at the front desk may help. Laundry facilities are available at an additional charge. The elevator serves upper floors but can be shaky. Pets are allowed with applicable charges. A fenced pet area is provided. The lobby and breakfast area have been renovated. Luggage storage is available. The property accepts all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover) and cash with a deposit.
