SPRINGHILL SUITES DURHAM CHAPEL HILL, Durham

The hotel is situated off Route 40, placing it close to several dining options including Blaze Pizza, Five Guys, and Kanki Japanese House of Steaks, all within a 5-minute walk. It is 10 km from Duke University and 15 minutes by car from downtown Durham, with Raleigh-Durham International Airport 26 km away. The area is commercial and safe, though parking on-site is tight and requires a reservation. For trips to University of North Carolina, the hotel offers a cost-effective base.

All rooms are air-conditioned suites featuring a separate living area with a sofa, work desk, TV with streaming services, and a tea and coffee maker. The private bathroom often includes a walk-in shower and a separate toilet layout, though some units have heavy sliding doors that can be noisy. Rooms are generally clean and comfortable with blackout curtains, but some furnishings and carpets show wear, and a few rooms may have lighting that feels dim. The couch in certain rooms has been noted as needing deeper cleaning.

The daily breakfast buffet offers a variety of items: scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, potatoes, make-your-own waffles, oatmeal with toppings, yogurt, fruit, and cereal. The buffet is generally well-stocked, though during peak times the seating area can fill up quickly and the lone staff member may struggle to keep up with replenishment and table clearing. The hotel has a bar in the lobby open in the evenings, and there is no full restaurant on site. Several chain restaurants are within walking distance for other meals.

The property features an indoor swimming pool open all year and a hot tub, both generally well-maintained and popular with families. The fitness centre is equipped with treadmills and bikes, though one bike has a skipping issue. Occasional closures for maintenance have been reported, so it is wise to confirm availability if these amenities are central to your stay.
