The Strand Hotel places you steps from Bencoolen MRT station on the Downtown Line, making travel to Changi Airport and Marina Bay straightforward. Bras Basah station is a 3-minute walk away, and Dhoby Ghaut station is a 5-minute walk. Fort Canning Park, the Singapore Art Museum and the Singapore Museum are all within a short walk. A food court is across the street, and there is a 7-Eleven convenience store nearby. Free private parking is available but the location is better suited to car-free exploration.

The hotel offers double, twin, quadruple and family rooms, with renovated family rooms available on request. Each room is a non-smoking, air-conditioned unit with a private bathroom stocked with free toiletries and slippers; some feature a bathtub subject to availability. A mini fridge is provided, and a hairdryer is available upon request at check-in. The property is older, and standard rooms vary in condition. Street-facing rooms may be noisier and higher rooms on the opposite side are quieter. Some units have city views. Note that interconnecting rooms are not available.

Breakfast is a continental buffet served in the breakfast room, including hot beverages, eggs, cold cuts and sweet pastries, but must be ordered the day before as the kitchen may not offer a daily walk-in service.
