SUNSET WEST HOTEL, SURESTAY COLLECTION BY BEST WESTERN, Los Angeles

The hotel sits on the main Sunset Boulevard strip, placing guests within easy walking distance of Hollywood's key attractions - the Walk of Fame and TCL Chinese Theatre are about 10-15 minutes on foot. Universal Studios Hollywood is 6 km away (a quick rideshare trip). Rodeo Drive is 8 km, Santa Monica Beach is a 20-minute drive. A bus stop is directly across the street, and the metro station is a short walk. The immediate area has a high presence of street homelessness, particularly after dark. An overnight security guard patrols the property and parking lot, and the hotel provides a safe feel within its grounds. Guests driving to Universal or elsewhere will find the free on-site parking a major advantage despite its limited space.

All rooms include air conditioning, heating, a coffee maker, hair dryer, ironing board, and free WiFi. Bedding options range from a single double bed to family rooms with three beds (two queen beds plus a separate single in a private alcove). Family rooms also feature two televisions and some have a mini-fridge. Rooms are compact for the price, with hard floors and basic furnishings. Noise can be an issue - road-facing rooms on Sunset Boulevard are loud at night, and interior thin walls mean sound from neighbouring rooms is audible. For better sleep, request a room away from the street and on the second floor. Bathrooms are small and some have reported hot water delays; letting the water run for several minutes helps. Cleanliness standards vary - the property is older and some rooms may show wear. However, daily housekeeping is provided free of charge.

The heated pool is surrounded by a fence and has a shallow end suitable for children. Pool towels are provided. The pool area is small but includes a few sun loungers and tables, making it a pleasant spot for morning coffee or an afternoon relax. The pool is closed periodically for maintenance; check ahead if swimming is a priority. There is no hot tub, spa, or fitness centre on site. For leisure activities beyond the hotel, the Hollywood attractions and nearby Griffith Observatory are easily accessible by car or rideshare.
