Fisherman's Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge are both reachable within a 15-20 minute walk. The neighbourhood is safe and walkable, with several restaurants, cafes, and a supermarket within a few blocks. Public bus stops (including the 28 line to the Wharf and downtown) are a 2-3 minute walk from the front door. Free on-site parking makes car access easy, but the parking spaces are narrow and can fill up by evening. For airport transfers, taxi or ride-share apps are the only options; no shuttle is available.

Rooms are generally clean, with many recently updated to feature modern laminate flooring, new bathrooms, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and USB outlets by the bed. Each room has a private bathroom with a bath and hairdryer. Standard double rooms accommodate two beds and are functional but can feel small for four people with luggage. There are no sofas, sofa beds, or balconies. Window coverings may let in street light, and rooms facing the road hear heavy traffic noise day and night. The exterior corridors and staircases are open-air, which increases noise transmission. Sound insulation between rooms and from the upper floor is poor. Some rooms still have older air-conditioning units that can be noisy when running. A small fridge with freezer and a microwave are in every room, but there is no kitchenette or full cooking facility. Housekeeping is provided daily and includes fresh towels.

Francisco Bay Inn does not serve breakfast and has no restaurant or bar. A self-service coffee machine in the lobby provides free coffee and hot chocolate in the morning. Several cafes, pizza places, sushi bars, and diners are within a 5-10 minute walk on Chestnut and Lombard Streets. Mini-markets and convenience stores are across the street for basic groceries and snacks. Vending machines on site offer drinks and snacks for quick bites.

The property does not have any wellness or leisure facilities such as a pool, spa, sauna, gym, or private balcony. Guests looking to relax or exercise will need to use nearby public parks, the waterfront promenade, or commercial fitness centres in the Marina district, a short walk away.

Wi-Fi is free in all areas and works well throughout the property. Parking is free and on-site, but spaces are tight; larger vehicles (vans, SUVs) may find it especially challenging. A lift serves all floors, though it is older and can be unreliable. Luggage storage is available for a few hours free of charge - contact the front desk. Daily housekeeping is included.
