TAITO RYOKAN, Tokyo

Taito Ryokan sits in central Asakusa, a short walk from major sights: Kappabashi-dori Shopping Street (4 min), the Drum Museum (a few steps), and Asakusa ROX Shopping Center (2 min). The nearest metro station (Tawaramachi) is a 5-minute walk, and Ueno Station is reachable in about 20 minutes on foot. Sensō-ji Temple and the famous Kaminarimon gate are within a 5- to 10-minute walk. The area is lined with restaurants, convenience stores, and bakeries. Haneda Airport is 23 km away; there is no airport shuttle. The neighbourhood is safe and well-connected for both sightseeing and everyday needs.

All rooms feature tatami flooring, futon bedding, and air conditioning. Each room has at least two power outlets; shampoo and body wash are provided in the shared showers. Towels are not included but can be rented (JPY50 small, JPY100 large; plug adapters are available on request). Rooms vary in size - some are spacious enough to spread out luggage. Note that rooms are not soundproof, and those facing the street catch more noise. The building is older and reflects a traditional style; some areas show wear but remain functional for a budget stay. There are no rooms with a private bathroom or a balcony.

Taito Ryokan does not have its own restaurant or serve breakfast. A shared lounge offers free instant coffee and tea, plus a kettle and microwave. The surrounding Asakusa neighbourhood has numerous restaurants within a short walk, including Yakiniku Yaichi, Tempura bowl Tenya Asakusa, and Asakusa Kagetsudo Honten (all 0.3-0.5 km away). For hot meals and variety, guests can easily walk to any of these nearby options.

Wellness and leisure facilities are limited to bicycle rental (free of charge) - a practical way to explore Asakusa and the surrounding area. There is a shared lounge with a TV area for relaxing. No spa, swimming pool, fitness centre, or any other leisure amenities are available on site.

Wi-Fi is available free of charge in the rooms. Luggage storage is offered from 8:00 AM before check-in and also after check-out; leaving luggage between separate bookings is possible but requires full upfront payment. Laundry is available for a small fee (payable immediately on the same day). A shared lounge/TV area provides free tea and coffee. Fire extinguishers and smoke alarms are installed. The owner speaks English and is typically on site. No parking, no airport shuttle, no safe.
