THE BARON HOTEL, Washington

The hotel is located in the best-rated area in Washington, D.C., at 0.5 km from Dupont Circle and the Dupont Metro station. The White House is 2 km away, the Washington Monument in the National Mall is 4 km away, and Georgetown is 2 km from the property. The area is filled with cafes, restaurants and shops within a 5-minute walk, and the neighbourhood feels safe even after dark. Several bus stops are nearby, and the Metro provides easy access to major attractions such as the National Gallery and the U.S. Capitol. Free luggage storage allows you to drop off bags before check-in or after check-out, so you can explore immediately.

All guest rooms include air conditioning, heating, soundproof walls, a private bathroom with a shower (some with a powerful unit and hot water), a work desk, and a TV with over 50 cable channels. The rooms are carpeted (some with stains and wear), have no minibar or in-room fridge - only a shared refrigerator in the lobby on the first floor. There is no in-room kettle, but a hot water kettle with free coffee and tea is available in the lobby. Rooms facing the bar and comedy club can be noisy, especially on weekends and during shows; requesting a room on the 4th floor (top floor) significantly reduces noise. Some rooms have very small windows, and the window-unit air conditioner can be loud. The old elevator serves the 4 floors and has a manual two-door system; some visitors find it aged but functional.

Bier Baron Tavern, located on site, serves American pub fare and is open daily for dinner, with lunch available on Fridays and Saturdays. A comedy club is also located in the same building, with shows most nights; the bar and club atmosphere can be lively. Guests receive a 15% discount at the tavern. There is no breakfast, in-room dining, or open kitchen at the hotel. However, the surrounding neighbourhood offers many cafes, coffee shops and restaurants within a 5-minute walk that open from around 7-8 am, making it easy to find a morning meal outside the hotel.

There is no spa, swimming pool, sauna, or fitness centre. The main leisure offering is the on-site Bier Baron Tavern and DC Comedy Loft, which host comedy shows and other performances most nights. The hotel does not have a dedicated bicycle storage area. The surrounding Dupont Circle area offers many bars, restaurants, and cultural attractions within walking distance.

Free Wi-Fi is available in all areas. The 24-hour front desk offers luggage storage (free), an ATM/cash machine on site, tour desk, and fax/photocopying. Ironing facilities are available from the front desk. The front desk can also hold items that need refrigeration in a lobby fridge, as rooms have no mini-fridge. The 24-hour front desk can arrange taxis to Reagan Airport (no hotel shuttle). The hotel has a small, manual two-door elevator serving all 4 floors, but the property is not wheelchair accessible (a flight of stairs at the entrance and no ramps). There is no business centre, but meeting/banquet facilities are available. Pets are not allowed.
