The immediate area is packed with dining and nightlife - over a dozen bars and restaurants are within a 0.5 km walk. A grocery store is one block east, and the supermarket, pharmacy, and coffee shops are all within an easy walk. Many amenities in the area are walkable, though a rental car is helpful for exploring beyond the immediate neighbourhood, particularly as some pre-pandemic restaurants and shops have not fully reopened. San Diego International Airport is about 9 km away, and public transport options are nearby.

The property offers a wide range of units. Cottages and apartments typically include a full kitchen (stovetop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher in many, plus basic pots and pans), a living area, and a private bathroom with bath. Kitchens are well stocked with cookware and utensils. Motel rooms have a kitchenette (microwave, toaster, mini-fridge) but no full kitchen. Every unit has a private bathroom - none are shared. Room types vary: some have ocean views (Apartment with Sea View, Bungalow with Sea View), others partial ocean views (Double Room with Balcony), and others no ocean view (Quadruple Room with Balcony, Deluxe Studio, Bungalow with Garden View, Bungalow with Patio). Some rooms have balconies or patios; a few are wheelchair accessible. A small number of rooms have a living room separate from the bedroom. The single-room studios are compact but functional. The interiors are older and basic but well maintained. The property has no air conditioning - opening windows and using fans is the only cooling option. Noise is a significant factor: rooms near the restaurant/bar area, alley-facing rooms, and those in a building adjacent to the alley can hear loud music, street noise, and crowds until late at night (sometimes past 3am). Rooms on the south side of the building are typically quieter. The front desk does not offer earplugs, so bringing your own is strongly advised. Bed sizes vary across units.

The property does not have a restaurant or offer breakfast. The neighbourhood, however, is packed with dining options: nine bars and restaurants are within 0.5 km, including a well-known seafood place on the boardwalk. A Starbucks and other coffee shops are nearby. There is a grocery store one block east, making self-catering straightforward for those with kitchen-equipped units. A CVS pharmacy is also nearby for sundries. The best weather for outdoor dining runs from August through mid-October.

Leisure facilities are geared towards outdoor, casual activities. Guests have direct access to the sand and boardwalk, making swimming, sunbathing, and walking effortless. The common courtyard includes an outdoor fireplace, picnic tables, and barbecue grills available for each cottage/unit. Table tennis and shuffleboard are free to use. There is no pool, spa, or gym on site. This is a family-friendly setup where the beach itself and nearby boardwalk activities (bike rentals, people-watching, sunsets) form the main leisure offering.

Wi-Fi is free in all rooms. Daily housekeeping is included and free - staff check in regularly to replenish supplies. Express check-in/check-out streamlines the process, and a text-message service allows you to contact the front desk easily. A laundry room (additional charge) and luggage carts are available on site. There is a drinks vending machine. Parking is a key practical feature: a private, gated, attended lot is available for $15 USD per night - no reservation required.
