The area feels safe and is pleasant for walking, though the route to the main strip passes by some street-dwelling individuals, which can feel uncomfortable at night.

Rooms are basic and functional, with sturdy beds and air conditioning. Each bed in a dormitory comes with a tea and coffee maker, and there is a dining table and a seating area. Some rooms have a balcony and a view of a landmark, such as the Hollywood Sign. Dormitories can sleep 4-6 people and are sometimes partitioned so that other rooms are accessed through the main dorm, creating a thoroughfare that can be disruptive. Storage space inside the rooms is limited, with no dedicated furniture for bags, so luggage storage lockers in the common area are useful. Towels are provided. The windows in some rooms have no curtains, so early sunrise light can wake light sleepers.
