THE STRAND HOTEL, Sydney

The hotel is a 14 km drive from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. Hyde Park Barracks Museum is 800 metres away, and the Royal Botanic Gardens are an 18-minute walk. Sydney Opera House is 9 km away. The location is central enough for walking to many landmarks, and the surrounding area offers a wide selection of restaurants and bars within a 2-minute radius. For car-free city access, trams and buses are nearby. The immediate street can be busy, and rooms facing the road may experience traffic noise, particularly at night.

Bed sizes are Queen or King only; no twin or rollaway beds are available. Some rooms offer city views, while others are internal with no window. The single room category is windowless, which may feel claustrophobic to some. A suite option includes a separate living area and tea/coffee maker. Rooms are compact, and some are petite - the smallest (14 m² including bathroom) has limited floor space after luggage is out. Road-facing rooms and rooms near the stairwell can be noisy due to street traffic, the rooftop bar, and the auto-locking door mechanism. Staff can note quiet room requests on bookings. All rooms have air conditioning, heating, and are non-smoking. Decor is modern and stylish, though some areas show wear and tear.

Breakfast includes homemade pastries, granola, yogurt pods, juice, seasonal fruit, and coffee. The breakfast selection is sweet-focused; a simple, self-serve setup. For other meals, The Public Bar serves Australian pub fare (lunch and dinner), while The Strand Rooftop offers Mediterranean-style dinner and cocktails in a modern, open-air setting. The rooftop bar operates Thursday to Saturday, with hours: Thursday/Friday 16:00-00:00, Saturday 13:00-00:00. The Public Bar is open daily for lunch and dinner. Welcome drinks are offered to guests. A drink menu includes wine, champagne, and cocktails. The area around the hotel has numerous dining options within a 300-metre radius.

The rooftop bar provides an outdoor space with city skyline views, a bar, and seating, operating on select evenings. The library lounge on the ground floor functions as a quiet lounge area and also serves as the breakfast room. The hotel does not have a pool, spa, gym, sauna, or dedicated leisure facilities beyond these two spaces.
