The lodge is positioned between the North Sydney business district and the café-lined streets of Crows Nest, placing shops, restaurants and pubs within a 5-minute walk. A bus stop is two minutes away, and the new Metro station (Victoria Cross) provides a direct link to the city centre in about 10 minutes. Mater Hospital is 400 metres away, and North Sydney Oval is 350 metres from the property, making it convenient for sporting events. The surrounding area is residential and quiet, but the lodge is close to a main road; rooms facing the street may pick up traffic noise. For those without a car, public transport is excellent and reduces the need for paid parking.

All rooms include air conditioning, a 32-inch flat-screen TV, a fridge, and bed linen with towels. Room sizes can be small, particularly in the more basic categories, leaving limited floor space for luggage. Some double rooms have a balcony overlooking the garden, while ground-floor rooms are available on request. Bathroom configuration varies: budget rooms share hallway bathrooms (multiple showers and toilets are available on each floor), while the Garden Studio Ensuite has a private bathroom and a kitchenette. The building is a heritage property with brick walls that reduce noise between rooms, but thin windows mean street noise may be audible in front-facing rooms. A communal kitchen and dining room are available for guest use, along with a shared lounge and outdoor seating in the garden. The property is two storeys with no lift; some rooms are upstairs.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and is available in the common kitchen on the ground level. The offering is basic: cereals, bread for toast, butter, spreads, milk, tea and coffee. For guests wanting a hot or more substantial meal, dozens of restaurants and cafés are within a 5- to 10-minute walk along the main streets of North Sydney and Crows Nest, covering cuisines from Korean to Italian and casual pub fare (Union Pub is 0.5 km away). The shared kitchen is also fully equipped for self-catering, with cookware, utensils, a microwave, and some pantry basics (oil, salt) provided. The dining room is located in the heritage section of the lodge and offers a pleasant space for meals.

For leisure, the property provides a garden with picnic tables and outdoor furniture, ideal for relaxing in fine weather. A games room is available on site, and board games can be borrowed from the shared area. The surrounding neighbourhood is safe and quiet, good for evening walks, and North Sydney Oval is a 5-minute walk away for spectators attending cricket, rugby or AFL matches. The new Metro station gives easy access to Sydney's harbour, beaches and parks. There is no pool, spa or gym on the premises, but the outdoor spaces and games room provide low-key options for guests wanting to unwind without leaving the building.

Wi-Fi is free in all areas. The communal kitchen is well equipped with cookware, a microwave, and refrigerator space, and is stocked with tea, coffee and breakfast items. Coin-operated laundry (washing machine and dryer) costs $4 per use. Luggage storage can be arranged before check-in or after check-out if the front door is open. Parking is available on site but costs $30 per night and must be reserved in advance-street parking is strictly limited (one hour without a permit, with fines up to $300).
