TRU BY HILTON CHARLOTTE AYRSLEY, Charlotte

The hotel sits in the Ayrsley area, a modern mixed-use development with a movie theater, numerous restaurants, bars, and convenience stores within a short walk. Interstate access is quick, making it convenient for both downtown Charlotte and the airport. The neighborhood feels safe and quiet, though some nearby roads have homeless presence. Parking is free on-site but cannot be reserved. No airport shuttle is available, so you will need a car or ride service to reach the hotel from the airport.

Rooms are notably small, with limited counter space and a pipe with hangers instead of a closet. The beds are firm but generally comfortable; pillows are thin. The air conditioning unit can be loud and cannot be fully turned off - it runs continuously. Some rooms have poorly sealed shower doors that leak water onto the floor, and wallpapered walls may show peeling or wear. Connecting rooms are available but offer very little soundproofing. Despite the tight footprint, the bathrooms are often noted as the best feature, with a clean, modern shower and good water pressure.

Breakfast includes a self-serve pancake machine, hot items like scrambled eggs and sausage, plus continental staples. The selection is basic and can become repetitive over multi-night stays. Coffee is available in the lobby all day, and a shared microwave is available near the front desk. No on-site restaurant or bar exists, but the surrounding Ayrsley area has a wide variety of walkable dining options, from sit-down restaurants to fast-casual spots.

The fitness centre is well-maintained with dumbbells up to 23 kg, treadmills, and basic strength machines. The lobby offers a pool table, board games, and comfortable lounge seating, which is popular with families and groups. No swimming pool, spa, or sauna is available on-site. The hotel is near Carowinds amusement park (9 km) and has a movie theater within walking distance.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the property but can be inconsistent in speed and reliability, especially during peak usage. Parking is free and private but cannot be reserved. A business centre with fax and photocopying services is available. Luggage storage is offered for early arrivals or late departures. The hotel is fully wheelchair accessible with accessible parking and an elevator. Pets are allowed for a fee ($50+tax for 1-4 nights, $75+tax for 5+ nights). Daily housekeeping is by request only - you must ask at the front desk for towel or linen replacements. A safety deposit box is available at reception.
