TRU BY HILTON PORTLAND AIRPORT, OR, Portland

The hotel sits adjacent to PDX, making it ideal for pre-flight or post-arrival stays. The free 24-hour shuttle runs every 25 minutes and can be scheduled directly at check-in or by calling the dedicated line. While the location provides fast airport access, the immediate area lacks sidewalks and walkable dining - the nearest restaurants (Brenners, Lakeside Bar & Grill, Airport Cafe) are 0.5-1 km away, so a car or the shuttle driver's willingness to provide a lift is needed. Oregon Convention Center is 10 km south, and the Portland Art Museum is 13 km away; downtown Portland is a roughly 15-minute drive. The surrounding neighbourhood feels safe and quiet, and the hotel's gated parking lot adds to the sense of security.

Rooms are modern and clean, though minimal in size and furnishings - there is no closet, just basic storage. Each unit includes a work desk, hairdryer, free toiletries, ironing facilities, and an alarm clock. The unit offers either one queen/double bed or two beds for quadruple occupancy. The beds are widely described as comfortable with soft sheets, but some have found the pillows less supportive. Rooms are generally quiet, though road-facing units may hear some airport traffic. A few negative experiences note maintenance issues (A/C that struggles below 23 °C, broken soap containers, occasional cleanliness lapses such as trash left from previous guests). The bathrooms are clean with a single-setting wide-spray shower; some have noted mould in shower grout. For light sleepers, requesting a room away from the road is advisable.

The free breakfast is offered daily - continental-style with options including breads, pastries, cereal, yogurt, bananas, oranges, and a pancake machine. The pancake station can create a bottleneck when busy, particularly on weekend mornings. Breakfast timing is 6:00 AM - 9:00 AM weekdays and 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM weekends. For early departures, the hotel provides grab-and-go bags, a helpful option for 5 AM flights. There is no on-site restaurant or bar; wine/champagne is available at an additional charge. Free coffee and fruit are available in the lobby throughout the day. The nearest full-service restaurants (Brenners Restaurant, Lakeside Bar & Grill) are a short drive or shuttle-away, and several guests have appreciated the front desk's willingness to arrange rides to nearby eateries.

The on-site fitness centre provides basic exercise equipment for a quick workout. The lobby doubles as a social hub with comfortable seating, a pool table, and board games available - a space where guests work or watch TV. There is no pool or hot tub, which has been noted by longer-stay travellers. The outdoor seating area and smoking patio are available, and bicycle parking is offered. The overall leisure package is straightforward, best suited to short stopovers rather than resort-style stays.
