WESTEND CITY HOSTEL, Vienna

The hostel is 50 metres from the main Mariahilfer Straße shopping street and a 5-minute walk from Westbahnhof station, served by U3 and U6 metro lines as well as trams and trains. The VAL airport shuttle stops at Westbahnhof, making airport transfers straightforward. The city centre is a 20-minute walk or 3 stops on the U3 line. The immediate area is packed with shops, supermarkets, cafés, and restaurants. A children's playground is 100 metres away. For drivers, a paid parking garage is nearby but has a 2-metre height limit.

Rooms range from single and double private rooms to 4-, 6-, or 8-bed mixed dormitories. All dormitory beds have lockers (padlock needed), but there are no bedside sockets, curtains, or reading lights - a common practical limitation. Charging is possible only from a limited number of room sockets. A portable charger can be rented for a fee. Private en-suite bathrooms are available in many room types, including 6-bed dorms with private shower and WC. The property is a historic building from 1876, and rooms reflect a basic but functional style. Dorm beds are comfortable, and the hostel provides earplugs free of charge to help with noise. The lack of storage space within reach of each bed is a known constraint.

There is no restaurant or bar, but the hostel offers a small kitchen area with a microwave, kettle, fridge, and sink - enough for simple meal preparation. Complimentary orange juice, tea, and cake are put out each day in the common area. A drinks vending machine is also available. For more substantial meals, the surrounding streets are lined with restaurants and cafés within a 5-minute walk, including Blattgold, Birdcage Bar & Lounge, and several other dining options.

The hostel has a garden with outdoor furniture, a shared lounge with satellite TV, and a games room with tabletop football. Board games and puzzles are available. A children's playground is 100 metres away. There is no spa, gym, or swimming pool. For outdoor activity, cycling is possible (bike storage is available). The hostel also organises pub crawls.
