YHA LONDON THAMESIDE, London

Rotherhithe is a quiet, leafy area offering a peaceful base while keeping central London within easy reach. The O2 Arena is a 5-minute Tube ride away, Canary Wharf is one stop, and the South Bank (with London Bridge and theatres) is 3 km along the river. Bus stops are directly outside the hostel, making travel simple. The immediate area is very quiet, with low traffic noise, though school groups staying at the hostel can create brief periods of noise. Nearby supermarkets, cafés, and riverside walks add convenience and charm.

Accommodation ranges from dormitory-style rooms (with bunk beds varying from 4 to 10 beds per room) to private rooms including single, twin, triple, and family rooms (up to 6 beds). Dormitory bed allocation is random, so the exact room size is not guaranteed. Private rooms for 2 or more guests are fully private and not shared with strangers. All rooms are en-suite with a shower and private bathroom. Rooms are basic and compact: they include storage under bunks but lack chairs, nightstands, or wardrobes in some cases. Some rooms have carpeted floors and heating. Windows can be difficult to open fully, and there is no air conditioning; fans are available on request. Room servicing is daily but some visitors have reported inconsistent cleaning. The property is generally quiet and in a residential area, with evening patrols to manage noise.

Leisure facilities are limited to common areas including a shared lounge with TV, a quiet outdoor space with furniture, and a selection of board games. The residential area and the Thames riverbank provide a pleasant setting for walks or runs. Discounted attraction tickets can be purchased at reception. For more active leisure, Canary Wharf and central London are easily accessible by Tube.

The hostel operates with 24-hour front desk service, ensuring late arrivals are accommodated. The building is fully non-smoking, and key card access is used for security. There is a lift serving all floors. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available, and guests with specific mobility needs should advise at booking to ensure an accessible toilet in the room. Luggage storage is available for a fee, but luggage cannot be accepted before check-in. The shared kitchen is open 24 hours and includes basic cooking equipment. Paid laundry facilities are on site. Hair dryers can be borrowed from reception at no charge. No parking is provided, but limited paid parking is available at the adjacent pub.
