APPARTAMENTI ASTORIA, Bologna

The apartments are centrally located, making it easy to explore Bologna on foot. Piazza Maggiore is within a 10-15 minute walk, and the train station is about 5-10 minutes on foot. The surroundings include a supermarket (Aldi), several cafés, and restaurants within a short walk. The exact location varies per unit - some are closer to the station, others deeper into the historic district. The area around the station can feel less secure at night, but the apartments generally have code-locked access for security.

Each studio includes a kitchenette with fridge, kettle, cookware, and an espresso machine, plus an LCD TV and air conditioning. Bed configurations vary: some have a double bed, others offer twin or single combinations. While many apartments are described as spacious and clean, the actual condition is inconsistent - some units show wear (e.g., loose handles, poor lighting, mould in bathrooms), and the layout can place the bed near the kitchen. Rooms with balconies exist but some are not as shown. Noise is a common factor, especially in street-facing rooms or those above bars. Light sleepers should request a quiet unit. The property's overall appearance can feel more basic than depicted, so managing expectations about the specific room assignment is advisable.

The breakfast is a continental buffet served at the hotel's reception area. For those wanting more variety, the surrounding streets offer several cafés, bakeries, and restaurants within a two-minute walk - including options for bistros, pizza, and seafood. The kitchenette in each studio allows guests to prepare their own meals, which can be more convenient for longer stays. The apartment itself has no restaurant or bar.

The hotel has a fitness centre that guests can access. The property is also well placed for cycling as a way to explore Bologna, with bike rental available from the hotel reception for free. There is no spa, swimming pool, or other wellness facilities on site.

Check-in and key collection happen at Hotel Astoria, where the 24-hour front desk operates. The reception can also store luggage for free before check-in or after checkout, a useful feature when arriving early. Wi-Fi is free throughout and works well for general browsing. Parking is available at a public nearby garage for €20 per day (no reservation, cash/card). Bike rental is complimentary. The hotel offers basic support but does not provide airport shuttles. There is no restaurant or spa.
